Have More Questions?

Is your team certified on public cloud platforms?

Not only does our team possess certifications for the major public clouds, but we have contributed to Microsoft’s enterprise-scale landing zone for Citrix on Azure guidance.

Do you have experience deploying NetScalers on public clouds?

Not only do we possess extensive expertise designing and deploying NetScaler solutions in all major public clouds, but have done so at high degrees of complexity in both configuration and global scale. Our team understands the nuances of NetScaler in public clouds for different use caes and can recommend the most appropriate architecture aligned with the latest product guidance and field experience from the vendor.

Can you help me retire my public cloud commitment?

Indeed. There are many ways we can help customers retire their financial commitment to Azure and AWS for instance. Reach out to us to learn how we can help maximize the value of your commitments with public cloud providers.

How can we manage cost optimization in the cloud?

This is a challenging question as it ultimately depends on the parameters of a given use case. In many cases, deploying many times of workloads are more expensive to do in clouds vs. on-prem despite earlier industry marketing. However, many customers will happily pay a premium to reduce the operational burden associated with managing platforms themselves. Depending on the workload type and use case, it is possible to effectively optimize costs within clouds through a balance of consumption cost commitments and spot pricing, storage type and redundancy level, and other optimizations. Several digital workspace platforms for example provide autoscale capabilities to harness the power of cloud elasticity and hibernation of idle systems for instance. This topic is one we have extensive knowledge in, including cost optimization assessments for cloud customers.

Does Ferroque have experience in designing cloud landing zones for disaster recovery?

Not only do we have this experience, we have authored Citrix’s official DR planning guidance which has useful guidance outside of the EUC landscape as well. There are numerous considerations involved for recovering workloads from on-prem into public clouds as well as between cloud regions, and pitfalls to avoid. We have designed and engineers public cloud platforms that support upward of 20,000 users and we have the experience to make your infrastructure disaster recovery and business continuity objectives a reality.

Can I automate the deployment of my public cloud platform with Terraform, etc.?

Yes you can, but it may not always be appropriate to do so if certain infrastructures are ultimately deployed once and once only. With that in mind, the investment into automating the deployment of cloud platforms is worthwhile for many customers as part of a recovery strategy, a scale-out strategy, and to support DevOps amongst other reasons. We can assist in these automation initiatives, leveraging both our field experience and vendor-provided tools and frameworks for automating deployment and configuration of their components.

How do you handle scalability and flexibility in public clouds?

This ultimately depends on the number of workloads or concurrent users needing to access the resources hosted in cloud environments, and the nature of the use cases. Larger environments will necessitate a scale-out architecture using a hub-and-spoke design for central infrastructure vs. workloads and the scale-out of network and storage constructs to align with cloud provider or software vendor limitations. Any need to burst capacity on-demand may also require design considerations. Some aspects of scalability an can be automated, but rely on foundational constructs to be present in advance. Understanding the potential expansion degree of workloads and/or users in advance will assist in developing a prescriptive blueprint of the cloud architecture that accommodates your business needs as you scale or contract cloud consumption.

What challenges have you encountered with cloud hosted EUC / digital workspace environments?

Our team has encountered many challenges over the years in moving to cloud platforms, however the following are the most common to navigate:

  • Security & governance structures versus vendor-required cloud integration
  • Vendor-recommended landing zone design conflicting with existing customer deployments
  • Active-Active versus Active-Passive design
  • User data recovery requirements versus technology capability and cost
  • Undersized cloud-hosted firewalls and network links to on-prem datacentres and offices
  • Latency-sensitive applications and their impact to cloud design and workload placement
  • Scale-out topology and failure domain risk tolerance and management
  • Cost optimization
Can you assist with the migration of existing environments to the cloud?

Yes. Cloud migrations can be a complex endeavour with numerous factors ranging from costs, compliance, security, data migration, and more. Our team has the experience to plan and navigate successful cloud transitions in a manner that reduces business impact and accomplishes objectives.
