What’s Happening?

Cloud Software Group (formerly Citrix Systems Inc.) is phasing out Virtual Apps Essentials and Virtual Desktops Essentials, ceasing sales October 31, 2023, and shutting down the service by May 31, 2024 (End of Life). This move comes as Citrix aims to streamline its offerings in response to advancements in both the Azure platform and Citrix DaaS solutions.

What is Our Transition Path?

Customers are advised to transition to Citrix DaaS Standard for Azure, offering enhanced capabilities over Virtual Apps Essentials.

Key enhancements of Citrix DaaS Standard for Azure include:

  • VDA Upgrade Service: Automated Citrix software upgrades for persistent VDAs.
  • VDI: Allows for both single-session and multi-session workloads under unified management and with desktop operating systems.
  • Session Recording: Enhances troubleshooting capabilities and compliance obligations.
  • Autoscale: Optimizes Azure compute costs with intelligent load management based on admin-defined parameters.
  • Global App Configuration Service: Simplifies and centralizes the management of Citrix Workspace App configurations for managed and unmanaged assets.
  • Workspace Environment Management Service: Offers customized user environment configuration with improved logon times and efficient resource management.

Optionally, now is the time to consider working with a Citrix Service Provider (CSP) such as Ferroque Systems, and transition to Citrix DaaS with the same or further capabilities as Citrix DaaS Standard for Azure, while reducing your management burden with our Citrix Managed Services.
